Obama Mourns His Grandmother's Death A Night Before Making History

With the clock winding down on his historic presidential campaign, Barack Obama was hit with the sad news that his grandmother, Madelyn Dunham, had passed away at the age of 86.

Learning of his grandmother's death some 36 hours before election day, Obama, who took a break from campaigning to visit her in Hawaii a few weeks ago, decided to proceed as scheduled with a rally in North Carolina.

There, a grieving Obama paid tribute to his beloved (did we mention, White and Kansas-born!) grandmother he affectionately called, "Toot" and often describes as one of the most influential and important figures in his life.

Of course, you can't blame Obama for managing to take "a bittersweet time" and turn it into something positive and uplifting for his campaign.

Like, dispelling the Obama-is-God rumors. Cause everyone knows God doesn't ever cry, not even when his grandmother dies.

He's Just Human After All
